The SFA Lions Club was Chartered 5 years ago in Del Rio, Texas. At one time we had a lot of members and currently we have 10 members. We always welcome new faces and we love the idea of bringing smiles to peoples faces. We are like a little 2nd family you'll have. If you have kids, it is ok...we bring our kids to the meeting when we have to. We have a big project we work on during the year. It is the Duck Race. Year around we collect prizes and if you are interested in donating a prize contact us asap. We do give away Scholarships during May...Graduation Time. We serve the community sometimes alone and others in conjunction with Queens for a Cause and our local TV Station. San Felipe Amistad (SFA) Lions are preparing for the invasion of hundreds of Rubber Ducks. The ducks are expected to arrive in Del Rio on Saturday, October 27, 2007. These are not ordinary rubber ducks. These are Racing Ducks that have been training and preparing for the past two months to go out and raise money for scholarships given away by the San Felipe Amistad Lions. These adorable little ducks sport panchos, a big smile and race their little hearts out for the sake of charity. The race will begin at 1 pm at the Gillis St bridge and end at the Tardy Dam at San Felipe Lions Park. Crowds line up along waterways to cheer the ducks arrival and participate in "quacky" promotions before the actual race. The entire event is sure to cause an uproar of fun that will be contagious to all citizens. SFA Lions are encouraging citizens to "adopt" the ducks for a chance to win great prizes. All of the proceeds go towards scholarship funds. SFA Lions are also now registering male and females of all ages for the All Ducked Out Contest. This is a runway style competition where contestants will sport their favorite Quacky Styles. We are also having a contest for those that like to draw. T-Shirts will be made and we will accept entries from local artists who want to design this years 2nd Annual Duck Race logo. If anyone wants to register, adopt a duck, rent a booth and or perform, please stop by the Lions Hut on Taini St any Wednesday. For more info please contact Claudia at 703-8373.
